Full Power, Longer Lifespan, More Safety On Board: TRION T-Rex Debuts at METS 2025

At METSTRADE 2025 in Amsterdam, the world’s largest trade fair for marine equipment, TRION Battery presents the new TRION T-Rex – a dual-purpose LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery developed and manufactured in Germany. It combines high cranking power, long service life and strong safety performance, setting new standards in marine energy systems.

The European charter market continues to grow. According to recent market analyses, the European yacht charter market is expected to expand at an annual growth rate of around 4.4% in the coming years (Source: Grand View Horizon, Europe Yacht Charter Market Size & Outlook 2024–2030, 2024).

Easy accessibility and the high comfort level of modern charter services are making sailing and boating increasingly attractive for vacationers and leisure skippers.

Higher utilization rates increase the demand among fleet operators and charter companies for durable, reliable and high-performance components, especially when it comes to onboard power supply. After all, modern air conditioning systems, refrigerators and electric anchor windlasses not only meet guests' growing demand for comfort, they also put a strain on the onboard batteries.

Robust, Safe and Powerful – Engineered for Marine Use

“At METS, we are presenting our groundbreaking battery technology to the international industry. With the T-Rex, we are combining the best of two worlds: the performance of conventional starter batteries and the long service life of modern LFP technology. This gives boat owners and fleet operators a solution that covers all performance needs, offers maximum safety and reliability, and significantly extends service intervals,” says Timothy Mayne, CEO of TRION Battery.

The TRION T-Rex delivers high starting power and exceptional cycle stability, even during repeated deep discharges. Its LFP cell architecture ensures maximum safety and thermal stability, an essential advantage at sea. Certified to UN 38.3, it is resistant to shock, moisture and temperature fluctuations, making it ideal for demanding marine environments.

“We develop our batteries for the toughest conditions and applications - at sea, in port or on houseboats. That is the only way to make energy systems truly more efficient, safer and more sustainable,” Mayne adds.

Efficiency That Delivers – Key Benefits of the TRION T-Rex

For owners of boats and yachts, charter fleets and houseboats, the TRION T-Rex offers clear advantages:

  • Fewer batteries, more power: One T-Rex replaces up to three conventional lead-acid batteries, significantly reducing weight, space requirements and installation effort.
  • Lower maintenance: With a lifespan of ten years and longer, frequent replacements and seasonal maintenance are no longer necessary.
  • High operational safety: Real-time monitoring and thermal stability ensure reliable performance, even under heavy load.
  • Cost efficiency: Long service life, reduced labor and fewer replacements lead to substantial savings.
  • Sustainability: Longer lifecycle reduces disposal and recycling frequency—saving resources and mitigating environmental impact.

Technology With Added Value – Made in Germany

Unlike traditional lithium-ion systems designed for maximum energy density, TRION focuses on high-power LFP cells. These deliver high currents even for short bursts—ideal for engine starts and for operating power-hungry equipment such as bow thrusters, anchor winches or air-conditioning systems. At the same time, the battery can complete full charge and discharge cycles in under one hour.

With the T-Rex LFP battery, TRION is setting new standards in marine energy management.

Development and production, from the individual cell to the fully assembled battery, take place entirely in Germany at TRION’s fully automated manufacturing facility near Dresden.

The combination of German engineering, industrial-grade quality and practical design makes the T-Rex the ideal solution for yacht owners, houseboat operators and commercial fleets.
